What diet are you on?

March 5, 2019

When we typically think of a diet we ultimately think of low carb, no carb, low fat, high protein etc…

There is basically a diet out there for anyway you want to eat, even if you want to eat just cookies or drink grape fruit juice all day, there is a diet for that.

If any of you have ever sat down with me for a consultation I like to ask the question, what will you do after you get off the diet?

For most people, it means going back to their old way of eating which caused them to gain the weight to begin with.

I challenge you to do something different.  Instead of going on a diet,  why don’t you start the process of learning to Eat Right.

When you learn to eat the right foods and create a lifestyle of healthy living versus dieting several times a year, you will naturally go down to your ideal weight, have more energy, and feel great.

Unfortunately, with all the information out there it is hard to decipher what is good for you and what is not.

If you look at all the most popular diets they all typically have a couple common themes.

1.  Eat food in it's most natural state.  Stay away from processed foods.  If you look at the ingredient list and it looks like it is made in a chemistry laboratory and not in the kitchen, Don't Eat It.

2.  Don't over eat.  Another part of the diet is controlling yourself and not over eating.  Whether you weigh your food, don't go back for seconds, or you have the meal already prepared and portion controlled for you, the key is not to be "Stuffed" when you finish eating.  The goal is to not be hungry anymore.

Let me repeat that.  The goal when you get done eating is not to be stuffed, but not be hungry anymore.

For some people they are simply not eating enough.  You should not be walking around hungry all the time.

Finally your body needs ALL of the Macronutients.  That means protein, fat AND carbs!

If you are following a diet that Eliminates or severely restricts one of the major Macronutrients I would highly suggest taking a second look at it and see if it really is the healthiest for you.

Again, always go back to the question, How am I going to eat when I get off the diet?

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions.  Have a great week!
